For Parents and Guardians

As parents we all want the best for our children, to see them reach their maximum potential in an exciting and rewarding career.

The nature of employment is changing and it is almost essential to obtain formal qualifications to enable people to enter the workforce.

Challenger TAFE offers more than 140 careers which prepare graduates for the real world of work. Through a combination of classroom learning and practical hands on work experience graduates are skilled and job ready.

At Challenger TAFE we understand the pressures parents face when helping their children make important decisions about their future.

As your child approaches the end of his or her secondary education, take time together to consider the next step in achieving career goals and aspirations for the future.

Industry Relevant Courses

The college has several industry training centres which are closely aligned to the needs of industry and the community. Challenger TAFE works closely with industry to provide skills that today's employers are looking for. This means that, regardless of whether you are studying towards a full qualification or a specific skill, your training is highly relevant and valued by employers.

Specialised Training Venues:

At Challenger TAFE we aim to provide training that gives students skills that closely match those needed in their future workplace. That is why we have a number of dynamic specialised training venues known as 'live works'. These specialised training venues offer students hands-on and industry-relevant opportunities beyond traditional learning avenues, in an actual work environment, with actual customers. The customers patronising the venues benefit too: with quality services and products that are often at reduced prices.

Challenger TAFE currently has the following 'live works' venues:

  • Visage Health and Beauty Clinics. Offering beauty therapy treatments and natural therapies including massage, aromatherapy and naturopathy (Fremantle, Beaconsfield and Mandurah campuses).
  • Visage Hairdressing Salon. Offering a full-range of hairdressing services, including cuts, colour and hair treatments (Beaconsfield Campus).
  • Quinlan's Cafe on High. Open for lunch Monday to Friday (cnr High Street and Mouat Street, Fremantle).
  • Quinlan's Training Restaurant. Open for lunch (Tuesday to Friday) and dinner (Monday to Friday) Beaconsfield Campus.
  • Challenger K9 - Day care and day spa for dogs at our Murdoch campus.

TAFE GRADUATES GET JOBS

Recent research shows that 89% of Challenger TAFE school-leaver graduates were employed after their course. This is an exceptional outcome for TAFEWA graduates and is an obvious indicator of the success of our training.

A PATHWAY TO UNIVERSITY

Challenger TAFE can also provide a pathway to university. A Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) is not the only means of entry to university in Western Australia.

A significant number of TAFEWA graduates, particularly those with Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas, gain admission to Australian universities each year. Once graduates have gained admission into university, they may be eligible for advanced standing or credit for their previous TAFEWA studies. This can mean a saving in time and thousands of dollars on HECS fees!

In addition, Challenger TAFE has joint campuses with Murdoch University, at Peel and Rockingham, which greatly assists students to move between TAFE and University.

HOW TO CONTACT US

Challenger TAFE has highly trained Career Development Advisers who are only too willing to provide assistance to your students. In addition, Career Development Advisers are available to visit your school to provide one-on-one consultations or group presentations.
