Better TAFE Facilties Funding
With the announcement of Better TAFE Funding from the Federal Government, Challenger TAFE has been fortunate to receive a budget of $2 million to improve facilities across all campuses.
Below is the list of improvements submitted and approved to commence at Challenger TAFE campuses, this funding will not only improve the appearance of some campuses but also make for a better teaching and learning environment for all concerned.
Beaconsfield Campus
- Supply and install air conditioning to to "U Block", this will improve the teaching environment in major delivery areas including engineering, hairdressing and community services to mention a few.
- Replace damaged fascias' to "C Block" to improve presentation.
- Replace rusty, leaking roof to "R Block"
- Building Management System to better control facilities in "C Block".
- Replace and dispose of flourescent lighting with new, more efficient lighting
- Upgrade to various equipment in the hospitality and human services section.
- Refurbishment of both "J and U Block".
e-Tech Centre (South Terrace)
- Replacment of carpet at e-Tech Centre.
- Replace student furniture.
Rockingham Campus
- Replacment of air conditioning in "G Block and Lecture Theatre"
- Replacement of roofing to specified classrooms and workshops.
- Fume extraction system for the science block.
- Repair and repaint high level windows to all workshops
Murdoch Campus
- Insulating paint to "Blocks B,C,F,G and H"
- Toilet upgrades around campus.
- Replace fibreglass sheeting to "R Block".
- Replace critical irrigation components (main lines, pipes and stations).
- Shade cloth replacement to nursery.
- Simulated Man Laedral - totally wireless and portable electronic non invasive blood pressure kits to support training delivery in nursing at three campuses.
- Two audio visual systems to support teaching requirements.Upgrading of nursing practice room equipment.
Peel Campus
- Complete installation of emergency showers to trades compound.
- Power upgrade to lathes in "G Block"
- Overhaul air conditioning plant.
- Point of sale system.
WA Maritime Training Centre - Fremantle
- Navigation simulator.
- Diesel engines (set of 6)
Henderson Campus
- Refurbishment of demountable teaching classrooms.
All campuses
- IT equipment (data projectors etc)
The college has until 30 June 2010 to aquite this funding therefore most of the project work will take place over the Christmas/New Year break, this will limit any disturbance or disruption to our normal services.

Update and photos of projected works for J and U Blocks refurbishment at Beaconsfield Campus, the refurbishment includes removing walls and repainting floors, removal of roller door and contruct new door to J016, painting and carpeting. The above works will open up the teaching area and allow for more hands on approach to courses.
