About the Centre
Challenger TAFE has been meeting the needs of industry in delivering programs in hospitality and tourism for some 30 years. The name of “Quinlan’s” was adopted with permission from the family of the same name, who made a notable contribution to the hospitality industry with the opening of the P&O Hotel in Fremantle in 1901.
The Quinlan's Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre is focused on the training and development needs of industry, as well as training people seeking employment and career paths in the hospitality and tourism industries.
The Centre is a quality-endorsed training organisation and has BVQI (approved International Quality Assurance from ISO – International Safety Organisation) of its quality management system for the provision of vocational education and training.
We are committed to delivering training developed in conjunction with tourism and hospitality leaders in the community and recognised industry associations. This collaborative approach ensures the Quinlan’s Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre remains at the forefront of training delivery and skills for today’s workplace.
Our highly-trained professional staff all have substantial industry experience and are qualified workplace trainers. Our facilities include commercially-equipped kitchens, the Quinlan’s on High Café and Quinlan's Training Restaurant which is renowned for excellence in food and beverage presentation and service.
The Centre specialises in providing hands-on training and provision of services for students through its short courses, such as bar, food and wine service, coffee-making and tourism, and training as identified and required by local industry. From entry-level Certificates to Diplomas, the Centre supports, educates and empowers students through the provision of quality vocational training, which in turn provides the West Australian, national and international hospitality and tourism industries with graduates and employees of the highest calibre.
Quinlan’s has produced 11 winners of the last 15 WA Apprentices of the Year and was awarded the Gold Plate Award for Best Restaurant within a Training Establishment in 2004 and 2007, and was a finalist in 2005, 2006 and 2008. With these credentials in place, the Centre is confident it is delivering the very best available training while continually producing high-calibre industry professionals who are work-ready and able to bridge the skills shortage gap.
