Mobile Training Facility

The Centre's mobile training facility makes training easily accessible for farm-owners and workers who cannot afford to be absent from their properties and regional places of employment for sustained periods of time.

It is a mobile classroom specially fitted with woolclassing equipment and a range of wool stocks necessary for qualifying owner woolclassers and professional woolclassers. It has been used in all woolgrowing regions of the State and provides seasonal off-peak learning opportunities to members of the wool industry.

As well as delivering flexible, self-paced training programs, the Centre also has a flexible enrolment structure. This allows students to start and finish their training at any time throughout the year.

All training staff in the Centre have industry backgrounds and are completely familiar with new wool technologies and equipment.

The Centre's training package comprises three levels of competency:

  • Certificate II in Agriculture (Wool Handling) - provides training for shedhands and woolpressers
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Clip Preparation) - on completion, graduates are eligible to apply for Owner Classer registration with the Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX)
  • Certificate IV in Agriculture (Woolclassing) - on completion, graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a Professional Woolclasser with the Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX).
