“STEP OUT ” PROGRAM – BRICKLAYING
Course Description
This one week intensive course is designed to encourage the development of basic bricklaying skills for secondary students interested in a career in the building and construction industry.
Projects can be undertaken within the school as part of the program, such as building a BBQ, sign, brick seating, or retaining walls for gardens. This helps create future interest in bricklaying and provides schools with added value. Further options like School Apprenticeship Links (SAL), Preapprenticeships and apprenticeships are discussed during the program.

5 days, 9.00am – 3.00pm
Guide to Costs
This program is fully funded by the ABBTF, and there are no tuition or material fees for secondary students.
Minimum Entrance Requirements
Year 9, 10 and 11 students who are interested in employment in the construction industry. A teacher or assistant must be available to support the program during the week.
Courses can accommodate between 12 – 15 students. Courses can be tailored to different groups.
Essential Student Resources
All students are expected to wear safety boots and appropriate clothing. All other PPE is provided.
