Support of College Staff
All our staff are carefully selected for their expertise so that you may rely on their capacity to interpret these responsibilities and other College policies in a way that suits your particular instructional needs. Our staff will always aim to provide you with the appropriate advice as to the behaviours that constitute an effective teaching and learning environment that is;
- Safe and clean,
- Comfortable and free from distraction
- Equitable and accessible to everyone
- Without harassment or threat
- Respecting of your need for confidentiality, and
- An appropriate model of workplace behaviours and practices
The College has the greatest confidence in its staff and will support the decisions they make in order to achieve the best learning experience for their students.
College Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality with the student information with which we have access to
- Restrain from the consumption of alcohol in that it may lead to unsafe behaviour or damage the College’s reputation
- Communicate openly, honestly and simply with our customers, responding in a timely and reliable manner
- Illegal drugs are totally unacceptable in the workplace and prescription drugs must not affect the safety of the employee or those around them
- Challenger TAFE is a responsible member of the community and we are all responsible for contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the environment we live
- College staff have a responsibility to ensure that all matters are promptly dealt with in accordance with approved procedures and in a consistent and fair manner
- College staff must not ask for or accept any gift, loan of money or goods or any benefit of significant value
- Challenger TAFE respects the rights of every individual and no pressure will be placed on employees to influence their personal preferences in private or political matters
- College staff cannot be directed to carry out any illegal act and nobody can justify an illegal act by claiming to be acting under order of a Manager
- College staff should recognise their professional and ethical responsibility to protect the interests of students and should seriously consider risks associated with any relationships that may develop
- College staff should ensure proper care and maintenance is given to Challenger Tafe property and not removed without authorisation
- Challenger TAFE aims to provide a working environment free from nepotism, patronage and discrimination
- College staff are expected to comply with neat and responsible dress standards at all times
- College staff will deal with fairly and honestly with our customers, each other, business suppliers and competitors
- If practical, management will endorse and support part-time employment and external interests if it is separated from Challenger Tafe work and does not involve the use of Challenger Tafe property, information, money, facilities, time or the services of fellow workers
- All employees undergo criminal record screening to protect students from people with a history of sexual abuse, violence or other unacceptable forms of behaviour
- Discrimination or harassment if anyone we deal with, based on race, colour, religion, gender, family responsibility, age, marital status, disability or other factors, will not be tolerated
