Academic Study Support
Study Support is offered to all international students free of charge by qualified and friendly staff.
It is a service that is provided in a relaxed atmosphere, giving students the opportunity to discuss their class work, study skills or possible English language difficulties with staff in addition to your (course) lecturers.
Any international student can attend these sessions and get assistance with their class work or English language skills. It is not necessary to make an appointment.
Study support is offered on Monday morning at Murdoch and in the afternoon at e-Tech as well as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at Beaconsfield campus. From Term 4, 2009 we are pleased to announce it will also be running at Peel campus once a week. Please contact our office, as per below for further details.
For further information please contact your international student support officer on (08) 9239 8356, (08) 9239 8326 or e-mail international.students@challengertafe.wa.edu.au
Please note: Study Support lessons are not run over the term breaks or on public holidays. They are usually not held during the last week of each term, unless discussed with the International Student Support Office (ISSO).

Personal / Well-being support
Challenger TAFE has access to counselling support services should you feel the need to talk privately to trained counsellors. Past students have used this service when they had personal problems that impacted their academic performance at the College (e.g. death in the family, etc).
If you are undergoing some changes in your personal life that may impair your academic performance, we encourage you to speak to one of our International Student Support Officers as soon as possible in order not to jeopardise your student visa obligations.

Extra curricular
The ISSO team traditionally organises a variety of extra curricular activities through out the year (e.g. Whale Watching, camping, etc). They also have links to a number of other providers e.g. CISWA and other International groups. Speak to one of our ISSO's for more information.

Mentor support
We understand that it may be daunting to begin a 'new life' in a strange place so, Challenger TAFE's International student services team have put together a 'buddy support' system for all new International students. New International students are introduced to Mentors (usually a continuing International student or Staff) who 'holds your hands' for the first few weeks of the semester / until you settle in.
